I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenck's lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirl under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

July 3rd, 2009

The City of Logan does their fire works on the 3rd of July every year. At first I thought this was really dumb of them, but I've since changed my mind! We can still see the fire works as a family and then the next night, which is actually the 4Th, we can either do fire works at our house, or we can go down to Anthony's sister's house in Kaysville and watch fire works, again, with them! Which we usually do.
This year, like the few years before, and we're hoping to have it be a family tradition, we stopped by KFC and grabbed a bucket of chicken with all of the sides. Then we went to the park and set up. I guess it's not actually a park though, it's a middle school. But which ever, it's the perfect spot. The grass is green, the tree's give us shade, and there are never very many people there, which gives the girls plenty of space to run around and play for a few hours before the fire works start. We brought the girls hoppers and their velcro mitts and balls and a cooler full of pop and ice! This year we had the pleasure of Anthony's boss and his family coming with us. It was a blast and the girls had fun playing with their kids.
I love being up here in Logan for many reasons, this being one of them, and I hope that when we move back to St. George, we keep up with the traditions we have started up here.

My pretty girl Ashlynn
My little monkey Hailey
My little bug Alyssa, who is always chewing on something!
All that slobber! Dang those teeth, wish they'd get here already!
