I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenck's lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirl under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

Ashlynn's Class Halloween Party

Ashlynn and Hailey were mermaids for Halloween
but I knew that Ashlynn wouldn't be able to sit down in her desk at school with the big mermaid tail,
so I dressed them up as kittens for her class party.
A few years ago the girls were kittens that had head bands with ears.
I thought that I still had them but I could only find the bow tie.
So for Ashlynn,
I cut the bow tie in half and sewed it into little ears.
I used the elastic on the bow tie to loop around her buns.
For a tail I cut off the ties on a brown dress of Hailey's!

I know,
what was I thinking?!

But she complains about the bow on that particular dress every time she wears it,
so I thought,
what the heck, who cares!

For Hailey,
I just put her hair into two buns,
painted whiskers and a nose
and gave her a tail as well.

I think they turned out pretty cute for last minute.
I was asked to do a craft for Ashlynns party and
(I don't know what I was thinking)
decided to make 30 graham cracker haunted houses.
If I had known how long I would be standing in my kitchen frosting together 30 houses,
I would not have done it.
Now that it's over with,
I'm glad I did because the kids loved it!
Alyssa tagged along too.
She was such a good little girl
and sat in her umbrella stroller for 2 whole hours.

Her teacher, Mrs. Kelly, is the RED crayon.

Oh my they are the prettiest little Mermaids I've ever seen! Love Alyssa's little bug costume and their kitty costumes too! That picture of Alyssa at the window in your shadow is so cute! I'm glad you guys had a great Halloween!

What great kitties. It sounds like you had a fun time helping out in Ashlyn's class.
